FAQ & Others

The organisations below are some that I have worked/interacted with in Xiao Hei's adoption journey. I also included some other organisations that I have volunteered with in this section as well.

  • Can I have adopt larger breed dogs in HDB?
Yes, you can provided for dogs under Project ADORE. You can find out more about Project ADORE here.
  • Do I need to pay when I adopt a dog in Singapore?
Most animal shelters and organisations in Singapore charge an adoption fee in order to offset the cost of sterilisation, microchipping and vaccinations. For some shelters, the adoption process would also mandate that you will need to undergo training.
  • How do I check if my home is suitable for a dog to live in?
Evaluate the size of your home to determine if it provides enough room for the dog to move around comfortably, especially if you're considering a larger breed. Ensure that there is no potential hazards by ensuring there is no small objects that could be swallowed. Consider your flooring type. Dogs can sometimes scratch or damage certain flooring materials like hardwood, so be prepared for the potential impact of a dog's claws. If necessary, you can use rugs or protective covers to minimize damage.
  • What are the rules for adoption in Singapore?
All prospective adopters must mandatory briefings and undergo Adoption Suitability Assessment. You can find out more here.
